First Game

We had our first game of the year November 18th at the Ray Friel center. We had a pretty good turnout, and it was a blast. Brennan had a camera and took a few pics. I'll upload them when I get 'em.

Injury Report:
I personally hurt my back after being on the ice for 30 seconds.
Kevin used the boards to stop. The boards were fine.

Game Notes:
Don't try to put the puck between Niccol's legs, he takes it as a personal insult.

Teamwork! Rules! Etc.

1. This is a non-contact "league", bumps and whacks will happen anyway, but nobody inexperienced wants to be run over and be given the excuse, "you should have kept your head up". People have to work tomorrow, eh?

2. No slapshots during the game, as one errant puck could ruin someone's day pretty quickly regardless of the gear they're wearing.

3. I ask the more experienced guys to not hog the puck so much, but to help out the more inexperienced guys learn and have fun rather than watch you zoom down to the other end and back. Passing practise as well as shots on net for warm-up, etc.

We're waiting for the Carling store at this point, we have 10 players plus a goalie here at Coventry Road, with a good mix of beginners and more experienced players. People are scrounging for deals on discontinued equipment as we speak. I myself, picked up some nice 16" disco Reebox XT shin pads reg. $59.99 for $20 to go with the eclectic mix of disco equipment I've already picked up since we played back a few years ago.
